1. What are three things you take on every trip?

My Gopro, reading material and an appetite for adventure!

2. What is your best remedy for jet lag?

I don’t have a remedy for jet lag, it screws me up every time… so I guess…. SLEEP, oh yeah and beer!

3. What is the first thing you do when you get to a new place?

Depends on the place, but usually I just get out and wander. I like to get a lay of the land, see what the neighborhood is like and…get a beer!

4. What place has the best food? The worst food?

Best food… besides my Grandma’s house? Italy and Vietnam, big time, by far, hands down. Worst food….I guess I would have to say Argentina. Great steaks but that is about it—no veggies, crappy bread and yeah—just meat.

5. What is one place that changed your outlook on life?

Italy—because it was the first place I had ever been, and being from a small Pacific Northwest town of 9,000, it was a completely transformative experience. Italy gave me a glimpse what the rest of the world was like and it literally changed everything about me, my personality and what I felt was possible for my life.

6. What is your favorite travel quote?

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” – Lao Tzu

This quote reminds me that the journey is always afoot and that the only barrier to travel and all of its benefits is your willingness to take the first step.

7. Is there any music that inspires you to travel?

Led Zeppelin’s “Ramble On.” When I hear that I just want to shoulder a backpack and RAMBLE!!

8. What is your craziest true travel story?

Oh god, I will have save all of the juicy details for campfire and a flask of whiskey but suffice it  to say that it involves a lot of hallucinogenic mushrooms and automatic machine guns in central Laos.

9. How do you think that travel videos can be useful to travelers, even if they aren’t filmmakers themselves?

Inspiration—straight up. Travel videos can get you stoked and can be a catalyst for the journey.

10. What is the goal/philosophy of your videos?

The goal of my videos is to create an experience that is akin to magic. I want to show people a version of the world that is new and unexpected. I want my videos to present images and a version of reality that the viewer has never seen before.

11. What advice do you have for someone who wants to make travel videos?

Start now.

12. What is your best travel tip?

1 — The first, and number 1 thing I check when I travel, is that I have my Wallet, and not just for the money! It’s even more important when I’m traveling with my grand kids!
