Here’s an awesome opportunity we heard about from our friends at World Nomads. World Nomads is currently accepting applications for their 2015 Travel Filmmaking Scholarship. This year, one aspiring documentary filmmaker will have the chance to take a 10-day all-expenses-paid trip to Colombia to tell the story of a community found on Colombia’s Pacific Coast. This Pacific community lives in a biodiversity hotspot. The scholarship winner will document how the people live and how they promote travel and tourism in their region. The scholarship winner will also have the opportunity to be mentored by filmmaker and director Brian Rapsey.
Who can apply?
To apply, you should be a non-professional filmmaker. The scholarship is open to film students or anyone who wants to build a career in documentary-style filmmaking. You should be at least 18 years old, have a valid passport, and be available to travel during the scholarship travel dates (November 22 – December 3). World Nomads also says, “You should be a keen amateur with a lust for adventure and burning desire to be a filmmaker.” As part of your application, you will demonstrate your filmmaking skills by submitting a documentary short (less than 3 minutes) that profiles a person who inspires you to travel the world.
