In this new TripVlogger series, Blair and Diane of When in Rome go wandering in Spain’s capital city. When in Madrid, you can’t miss the tapas and you’ll definitely come across the famous delicacy jamón. Check out the videos below to go wandering from tasting menus to landmarks like the Mercado de San Miguel and the Plaza Mayor. Just don’t be surprised if you end up craving tapas.
The tapas experience is not to be missed while you are in Madrid. Tapas are essentially small plates of food 1 or 2 bites, served with your drink at the bar. Basically you just wander around from place to place trying little plates of food. It’s fantastic!
Sometimes looking for things can get in the way of seeing things. One of the best things you can do is just go and get lost and wander around this beautiful city.
One of the best attractions in Madrid is the upscale Tapas Market, Mercado De San Miquel. It’s like if every nice restaurant you have ever been to sent there head chef here to make their best dish…one after the other.
In the middle of Madrid is the almost 400-year-old Plaza Mayor. This now tranquil place was once the home of bull fights, inquisitions, executions and perhaps worst of all soccer games but it’s hard to imagine any of that happening here today.
When you think of Madrid you may think Bull but now you can think Pig…or at least pig leg. Spain has a long standing tradition of drying ham on the bone and it is POPULAR.
